Catching up... Cross country

Finally back in CO after almost a week back home with family and wedding planning. It was as usual, too busy and quick of a trip to the mitten.

Well, I give Brett major props... I was starting to think our first dance would consist of swaying back and forth in the same spot on the gorgeous teak dancing floor at our reception (since neither of can dance and booty shake doesn't count). But, I was wrong! Last night, we went to our first dance class. In one hour, we were introduced to the basic ballroom steps, and danced with a variety of other people. It turns out that dancing is much easier, when dancing with old pros. We stuck out like a sore thumb (with the other young couple also prepping for a wedding). Ha. To think, ballroom dancing used to be a school taught gym activity. Our generation had dancing substituted with dodge ball. Hmm, what is more practical - dancing or throwing balls at each other. What a world we live in.

Having weekly potlucks with friends has made Thursdays a day to look forward to! This week, we hosted for the first time. It was easily the most people in the new house yet. It's so great to share an evening with good people and good food. I'm so glad we could host, and look forward to doing it again. The theme tonight was Italian, and Brett made my favorite :0)

At the end of the night, the hoop came out briefly... and we were shown how little we know by the tallest hooper I've ever met. In time (with practice), we'll get the kinks sorted out.

Greensky Blugrass in Boulder tonight! (Amazing) Michigan music is always a pleasure...

Winter Park

We headed up to Winter Park, CO over the weekend and had a great time with friends. A good friday night filled with Michigan card games and Michigan beer was exactly what we needed. Saturday, while they skiied, we did a 5 mile snowshoe hike through the national forest. It was the first time feeling confident.. and all the pain in the knee felt like "good pain" that indicated the muscles were actually getting the workout they need. It was so beautiful (and warm..) too.

In Golden, there was a record high on Saturday in the *70's*, and on Sunday we had white out snow in the 20's... weird weather indeed.
